Do I need an Apple Watch?
To be woken as you stir, yes: an Apple Watch worn to sleep, paired with your iPhone. Without a Watch, Velvet Alarm is a plain, reliable iPhone alarm.
Can it wake me later than my alarm time?
No. It can only wake you earlier, never later. Your iPhone alarm is scheduled the moment you set it and rings at your time if you weren’t stirring earlier.
Will it wake my partner?
The early tap is a vibration on your wrist, with no sound. Your iPhone stays quiet unless you turn on “Also ring my iPhone at the early tap”. If you’re not stirring, your iPhone rings at your alarm time.
What if my Watch is off or out of range?
Your iPhone alarm is already set and still rings at your time, then repeats 2 and 5 minutes later if you sleep through (this needs notifications on).
Which iPhones and Watches work?
An iPhone 11 or later, or iPhone SE (2nd generation) or later, with iOS 26 or later. To be woken as you stir: Apple Watch Series 6 or later, SE (2nd generation) or later, or any Ultra, with watchOS 26 or later. It isn’t made for iPad or Mac.
Does it track my sleep?
No. It’s an alarm clock: it pays attention to your wrist movement, and your heart rate when the Watch has a reading, only in the last minutes before your alarm, and it shows no sleep or heart-rate charts. It does not diagnose, treat or monitor any medical condition.
Is my data private?
Yes. No account, no ads, no tracking, no servers. Your Health data stays on your iPhone and Apple Watch and is never sent to us or anyone else. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Why does the App Store say Wristwake?
Velvet Alarm is the new name of Wristwake. Until the update that renames it, the App Store, your Home Screen and Settings still show Wristwake (on the App Store: Wristwake: Silent Smart Alarm). It’s the same app.
What does it cost?
Try everything free for 7 days with Monthly or Yearly; after the trial it renews unless you cancel. Or unlock it forever with a single in-app purchase. Prices vary by country, and the App Store shows yours before you buy. An alarm you’ve already set always rings.
